Maldives Weather

Perfect is how you would describe the Maldives weather. The sun shines down on this tropical paradise all year round with just the occasional rain shower here and there.

Just imagine this... No matter what time of the year it is in Maldives, the average number of sunshine hours for each day is 8. That's right, 8 hours of sunshine from 12 hours of daylight.

The fact that Maldives straddles the equator means that daylight hours and the nights are pretty well balanced, roughly 12 hours for each.

Sunny beach In between you will experience the rare gloomy days. However, rain even on such occasions doesn't last for too long.

The Maldives prides itself on its extensively more sunny days with clear blue skies compared to its cloudy and rainy days.

Through out Maldives, the weather is more or less like this.

Being on the equator and so close to sea level, it doesn't have the different seasons, or at least varying climates like a lot of other countries. But it does go through 2 monsoonal weather changes every year.

The north-east monsoon which lasts from around November to May the next year is considered the more drier of the 2 monsoons. In Maldives the north-east monsoon is termed Iruavi.

The south-west monsoon is considered more windy and rainy. This is known as the Hulhangu in Maldives lasts from about May to October.

Sunshine or rain, there is hardly very little fluctuations in the temperature of Maldives. During the day the average temperature at any given time of the year would be around 30 degrees Celsius which is about 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

At night the temperature might fall down to about 25 degrees Celsius which is about 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

The estimated average rainfall in the Maldives is around 1996.33 mm every year.

It is always pretty humid here in Maldives, but with the natural breeze coming from the ocean, this helps to reduce the effect of humidity.

With regard and respect to all these statistics, the Maldives weather can sometimes be a little bit off to what is forecast-ed.

The good thing here is even though there is a bit of rain here and there, it hardly is a party spoiler. In fact, I believe that this tropical paradise gets a chance to show another side of its beauty in the drizzling rain.

BUT... don't count on the rain, even if you like it, for too long because the sun and the clear blue cloudless skies rule the Maldives.

It is the weather that people from all over the world come to bask in. It is what Maldives is truly renown for. The hot sunny tropical weather is the true Maldives weather.

You will be be able to get accurate and live updates about the weather for today and tomorrow below.
