The satellite map of Maldives at first glance looks more like a handful of green emeralds strewn across the deep blue ocean, with turquoise rings around these emeralds.
The shade of the blue gets deeper as the sea gets further away from the greenery.
You will get the same view when you are flying over Maldivian islands in the airplane.
The green is mostly the palm trees and other vegetation on the islands from an aerial view. The turquoise rings are the lagoons and the shallow part of the sea meeting the beach.
Map of Maldives
The Maldives map presented here is in white to properly show the how the different atolls in Maldives have been mapped.
The islands are not shown in this map of Maldives but instead the irregular ring shaped coral reefs which form the atolls are clearly depicted so that you know how the atolls have been divided.
Though Maldives contains 26 atolls in reality, this number has been reduced to 20 for administrative purposes.
The imaginary dividing lines in the map show the 20 atolls and the relevant name for each atoll.
